Idle & Awake Tools is a collection of free online tools — calculators, file converters and developer utilities — that run entirely inside your web browser.
Why we built this
Many “free” online tools ask you to upload files or type sensitive numbers into a server you know nothing about. We think most everyday tasks don’t need that. Modern browsers can compress images, merge PDFs and run financial models on their own, so that is how every tool here is built: your data stays on your device.
Who is behind the site
The site is built and maintained by Yoon. Backend engineer with years of experience building large-scale payment, card and financial data systems. That background shapes how the tools are made — especially the finance calculators, where every formula is written out on the page and checked against reference values before release.
Our principles
- Private by design. Tools process data locally in your browser. We don’t collect the numbers you enter or the files you open.
- Show the math. Every calculator explains its formula, assumptions and limitations, with worked examples you can check by hand.
- Verified before release. Calculation logic is covered by automated tests against known results. See how we build and verify tools.
- Kept up to date. Each tool page shows the date it was last reviewed. Tools that depend on yearly data, such as tax rates, are reviewed every year.
- Free to use. The site is supported by advertising. Ads are kept away from the tools themselves so they don’t get in your way.
